We always look for better ways to travel with little ones. And a savvy mum has shared a clever packing hack for those of us who are travelling on a budget.

According to the mum, who shared a video of her top travel tip, the key to saving money when flying with the family comes down to the way you pack before you jet off to your destination.

Pack an entire week in a backpack

In the video, the packing tipster, Jenna Carr, 33, demonstrates how to pack an entire week’s worth of holiday gear in just a single backpack. 

Jenna, who goes by the name ‘The Travel Mum’ on TikTok, has shared a tip that will prevent holidaymakers from paying additional fees for luggage when flying on a budget airline.

In the video, Jenna, from Worksop, Nottinghamshire, UK, uses a vacuum bag to get extra room inside a zip bag, which also leaves plenty more room left in the bag.

Her tip allows the whole family to travel with a backpack each, saving money on check-in luggage but also making things a little easier with less things to lug around an airport and hotels. 

She also tips you to wear your heaviest items of clothing on the plane whilst wrapping up footwear like sandals in cling film to avoid getting other clothes dirty.

Using zip bags is key to this hack, as Jenna states in the video: “By making a few changes to how we travel as a family, we’ve been able to travel so much more.”

Families are frothing over the travel hack

With the tip looking so easy (and actually works!), people online have been loving the travel hack.

“Amazing”, one person commented, whilst another tourist wanted more information on the hack: “I was going to do this but how do you get the vacuum bag sealed again for the way back?”

Good point. Maybe that's a good time to get a bit friendly with the housekeeping staff? Or check the cupboards in your Airbnb?
