FEELING stressed? Rundown? Overworked? Sounds like you need some kitten therapy.

Turns out playing with adorable kittens for a few minutes can do wonders for your mental health.

Check out this video, where stressed Los Angeles residents were invited to meditate inside a giant glass box full of kittens. The “therapy box” was available for use by appointment only and was open only to people with cases of chronic stress, Mashable reports.

The experiment subjects didn’t know what was happening when they entered. Here’s what went down:

Golriz Lucina, the creative director at SoulPancake — the company who organised the stunt — said the subjects’ stress levels significantly reduced after leaving the box.

“You could visibly see shoulders drop, joy and laughter on their faces. There was a sense of calm, ease and sweetness that was evident when they came out,” she told news.com.au.

No, it’s not scientific. (And if you’re feeling super-stressed, seeing a mental health professional is always the best option).

But Lucina says spending time with animals can help “soothe the soul and wash away some of the stress of life.”

“There is an innocence, playfulness and unconditional love that animals exhibit that is so healing and really makes you feel better. If a person has the time and resources to do so, I strongly recommend adopting a pet from a local animal shelter.”

All the kittens in the video were sourced from local shelters and handled by professional trainers.
