A CAT in Florida has narrowly survived being shot in the head with an arrow.
Owner Tyra Bulluck told SkyNews in the US that she found her rare furless white calico sphynx with a seven inch dart piercing its head on Wednesday morning.
The cat named Akila was found in a neighbour’s front garden shrub and also suffered damage to its tail.
“I was absolutely appalled that a human being could be so cruel to any creature,” Ms Bullock told SkyNews.
“The vet said if Akila had her head tilted even slightly upwards it would have been a kill shot that went through her skull.”
She said Akila was from championship stock and was an indoor cat. This was only the second time she had been outside.
It took about 45 minutes for the bolt to be removed after Akila was taken to the Animal Coalition of Tampa for treatment.
“It’s so hard to believe that people deliberately hurt animals,” the Coalition posted on its Facebook page.
