5 hardluck hounds in need of a new home this winter

MAN’S best friend can’t hide from bad weather this winter. Dog charity Rocky’s K9 Rescue has five furry friends in need of a new home.

WINTER is a rough season for pooches as well as people. Canley Vale animal charity Rocky’s K9 Rescue is filled to the brim with dogs rescued from NSW pounds.

To help animal lovers find their new furry friend, Rocky’s K9 Rescue has put together a list of its top five rescue dogs.

1. Digger

At home with large families or small ones, Digger is a dog with a sweet personality. As a medium-sized dog Digger enjoys playing with dogs of all sizes and cats. Rescued from a country area, he plays well with children and enjoys going for car rides. Digger is currently located in Canley Vale and is fully house trained. BREED: Kelpie and Staffordshire cross mix AGE: 6 months SEX: Male

2. Matilda

Dog owners looking to add a pooch to their porch would suit Matilda, as she loves being with other animals. Matilda is already house trained and travels well in a car. Quiet, patient owners would suit her as she has been abused, and is still trying to regain her trust in people. BREED: Tenterfield terrier AGE: 4 SEX: Female

3. George

Named after an ANZAC soldier, George is an obedient yet playful Staffordshire mix who loves being part of a family. George already knows his basic commands, is fully house trained and is able to travel in cars. George gets on well with children and cats. He would suit families who like to go on walks and have a backyard. Carers say George is highly intelligent and doesn’t suffer from separation anxiety. BREED: Staffordshire mix AGE: 8 months SEX: Male

4. Dolly

A gentle family, with older children, would welcome Dolly with open arms. The six-month-old Staffordshire mix is a laid back, quiet personality who is already fully house trained. She doesn’t suffer from separation anxiety and doesn’t bark. As a dog who loves company, Dolly must be rehomed with another dog. She is also cat and rabbit friendly. BREED: Staffordshire mix AGE: 6 months SEX: Female

5. Bella

Carers describe Bella as an affectionate little dog, who enjoys sitting on her owner’s lap. The little terrier has had 10 teeth removed, and so can only eat soft food and small kibble.She likes going for walks and affectionate owners. BREED: Terrier mix AGE: 10 SEX: Female

ROCKY’S K9 RESCUE

Established by Canley Vale resident Merna Karam, Rocky’s K9 Rescue is a charity which fosters, desexes and rehomes dogs and cats rescued from pounds across Sydney and NSW.
