Go Sushi's grand finale

THE phone is ringing off the hook at Go Sushi as Darwinites attempt to book their place for Saturday’s final service.

Go Sushi, a Top End culinary institution, will shut its doors forever on Saturday after 19 years in business.

Restaurant owners Toshi and Theo Manolis say they are no longer taking bookings for the day and night services.

“We’re packed out,” Mr Manolis said.

“People are just going to have to come on down and see what we have available.”

Chefs and staff are now working overtime to prepare for a stampede of hungry sushi lovers.

“We are behind in preparations I think — there’s four in the kitchen working all hands on deck to get ready,” Mr Manolis said.

On the eve of her last night presiding over the restaurant dining room, Ms Manolis said it had been a hard week drawing the curtains on her beloved business.

“Every time I come into the restaurant at a quarter past seven in the morning, when no one is here, I just come in and cry,” she said.

But the outlook for the after-party on Saturday night was more optimistic.

“Tomorrow (Saturday) night I’m going to Throb,” she said.

“Let’s forget everything.”
