A dupe of a $30 smoothie popularised as the "It" girl drink has gripped social media, with many Sydneysiders stunned at the similarity.
Erewhon’s Hailey Bieber’s Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie features ingredients such as almond milk, strawberries, bananas, maple syrup, coconut cream, collagen peptides, dates, hyaluronic acid, sea moss gel and avocado.
It’s typically a must-try for any Australians visiting the United States but now one Sydney business is being praised as a “dupe” for the popular brand.
Feedwell recently opened a new store in Sydney’s CBD after the majority of its business was online catering. Its Collagen Kiss smoothie, which has many similar ingredients, has caught the attention of many. The Australian version retails for $12.
Influencer Jack Cooper brought his followers along with him to try the “Sydney version of Erewhon”.
“We couldn’t go to LA for Coachella, so this is just gonna have to do,” Mr Cooper said.
After trying the smoothie, he said it wasn’t “clickbait” and the smoothie was “very, very good” and that he was “impressed” by the experience.
“Who needs Erewhon when you’ve got this,” he said.
Meanwhile, another content creator known as @angelfindsdining said she had tried the Erewhon smoothie for $30 and was excited to compare the pair.
“I was extremely excited when I heard Feedwell in Sydney does a dupe for only $12,” she told her followers.
“My first impression is that it looks exactly the same but a little bit smaller — the one in LA was big. But, it tastes exactly the same so definitely run, don’t walk.”
And while it is the Collagen Kiss smoothie that initially caught social media’s attention, the whole store — including its drinks range — is bringing people in.
Other social media users also expressed their excitement.
“I love Erewhon so I must try,” one said.
Another commented: “Oh, I’m excited to try this place!’
“Looks so yum! I’ll have to come try now,” one said. ️
Eric Saad, the founder of Feedwell, told news.com.au he’s been blown away by the response to the new store.
“The comparisons to Erewhon weren’t something we planned — but with our Wellness Bar and functional smoothies, we get it,” he said.
“Our Collagen Kiss smoothie has gone viral on TikTok, dubbed the ‘Hailey Bieber dupe,’ and we’ve had a wave of customers coming in saying, ‘I saw it on TikTok.’
“We’ve even made a few flavour tweaks in real time based on feedback to make it just right in the last few days. Our Sea Moss Gut Vitality smoothie and Matcha range have also been flying out the door.
“We’ve been known for years as Sydney’s go-to corporate caterer — but this new retail concept has taken off faster than we imagined.
“We’ve spent the past year crafting a fresh, one-of-a-kind experience where you can grab a gourmet sandwich, smoothie, salad, snack or barista-made coffee — all under one roof, and all made fresh daily.“
