Food blogger Colin McQuistan posts hilarious review of plane meal
WHAT happens when an adventurous foodie who has cooked with cat food and toothpaste is given a meal at 40,000ft? You'll be surprised by his ridiculous review.

HE has cooked with cat food, spam, toothpaste and even fish food to show pretty much anything can be made edible given half the chance.
But even Colin McQuistan was left a little gastronomically challenged when describing a meal he was served up while flying from Britain to the US.
The Scotsman and author of myfoodeeblog posted a hilarious entry detailing the delightful and not so delightful aspects of food at 40,000ft.
He begins his British Airways Economy Airline Food entry by detailing how the food on-board his flight was so delicious he simply had to blog about it.
To start, he was served an apertife of concentrate orange juice and a vintage red which "turned out to be delightfully vinegary and tart".
It that wasn't exciting enough, he was then served "a bento box of assorted food delights from across the world".
So what did it contain?
He wasn't exactly sure, but was fairly certain it was some sort of "Chickin Thing', 'Chocolate Thing', Vintage White and Red Vinegar Things, 'Bread Thing' and last but not least 'Mystery Salad Object'."
And while plane food doesn't always have a great reputation, the food blogger admits he was actually left pleasantly surprised by the end result.
"Chicken Thing was actually quite nice; the chicken wasn't as hopelessly dehydrated as I thought it would be and was only a fraction saltier than the Dead Sea," he writes.
"The mashed potato that came with was made with cheese and complimented the chicken just fine. Mystery Salad Object turned out to be some kind of apple coleslaw and cut through the richness of the other ingredients nicely. The desert of 'Chocolate Thing' was very nice indeed and I only wish there was more!"
Mr McQuinstan, who began his food blog as part of a one-man protest against food snobs, is prepared to cook and try anything within reason.
The IT freelancer asks his Facebook followers for tips and suggestions to cook up and posts the results up on his blog.
This has ranged from cat food and grass to toothpaste and fish food.
He said it was a challenge to prove most food can be turned edible, given the chance and right cooking methods.
And while not everything was a gastronomic success, he certainly has fun trying to get it right - and does actually sample his creations.
"Unfortunately I force myself to eat all the dishes," he said.
"There's no way I could describe the taste otherwise."
