A DAY on the Daly River made for an ideal opportunity to bond for a team of ex-servicewomen, competing in the Girls Gone Fishing competition for the first time.
Put forward by the Reeling Veterans organisation, Nicole Langton, Sarah Reese and Samantha Cooper got to know one another and meet others transitioning from defence life into veterans life.

Ms Langton said the crossover helped her make two new mates she could head out on the water with, and they shared plenty of similarities from her days in service.
“It’s more about meeting people that are within ex-defence, this is to assist those that perpetually are struggling with adjusting to life outside,” Ms Langton said.

“Getting Reeling Veterans a little more known so it can touch others who are potentially struggling, so they can take other avenues to get that help or open up with somebody in terms of the fishing.”
Speaking of the fishing, the crew didn’t win but they had a great weekend.
