TEAM Tackleworld have taken out the 2015 Club Marine Barra Nationals.
The experienced fishing unit of Shane Compain, Tynan Bartolo and Terry Ryan produced a strong last two days on the water to pip Team Dilligaf at the post by the equivalent of a 77cm barramundi (113 points).
Compain, who also took out the Overall Champion Angler award, landed his second metrey for the week at 105cm for a strong 704-point final day on Saturday to push his team over the line.
Tackle World finished on an impressive 2130 points, with Compain contributing 1454 points himself.
Dilligaf (Jordan van Haaren, Jeremy Johnson and Corey Morrison) led the competition for three days and then slipped to finish second on 2017 points, but took out the champion Mixed Team title.
Cunning Stunts were third on 1628 points, securing them the champion local team award.
A record 64 teams entered the 20th anniversary event on the iconic Daly River between April 19-26.
Overall, 820 fish were caught for the week with thirteen measuring in over the metre mark.
A 115cm monster caught by Darren Bromley of Cranky’s Crew was the biggest for the week.
The champion female angler was Roxsean Edwards of team Dead Fishy on 454 points. The experienced female angler landed a 107cm to earn herself her third Nationals metre-club ring.
Each barramundi over 40cm scores during the five-day catch-and-release tournament, which is hosted annually by the Palmerston Game Fishing Club.
The bigger the fish, the larger the points haul. All fish over the metre mark earns the angler a prized Nationals metre club ring. Shane Compain and Jordan van Haaren each earned themselves two rings for 2015.
