Insanely hot, humid days, afternoon storms and a feeling that everyone's starting to go more than just a little bit troppo - the wet season has arrived!

The fishing has been heating up with the weather and some big barra have been caught both locally and a bit further afield of Darwin.

I enjoyed a fun afternoon recently with good mate and fellow fisho Roxley Pearce.

We snuck out through Buffalo Creek just as the tide pushed in and bounced our way around in the post cyclone chop into Shoal Bay.

Schools of nervous popeye mullet were pushing into the mouth of King Creek and despite the poor water clarity things felt pretty fishy.

I was trolling the ever reliable chartreuse Bomber whilst Roxley put on a Killalure 8' Barra Bait. I have to say I really love this as a trolling lure as it gets that little bit deeper than a Bomber and has a great action; reminiscent of the good ol' Nilsmaster Invincible.

We'd barely got settled when Roxley got a solid hit and a beautiful chrome Shoal Bay Barra was bouncing all over the creek.

A few more dropped fish rounded out a quick arvo session so it was back to the ramp with the promise of a few cold beers and fresh barra for dinner; how good is the Territory!
