I FISHED Shady Camp last week on the neap tides with my good mate Tam and we had a great time landing 15 barra up to 88cm at the mouth of Tommycut.

Most fish were caught casting to the sticks near the mouth on the outgoing tide with small bombers doing most of the damage.

The barra were actively feeding on Popeye mullet regularly slurping them off the surface.

Most barra we landed were good solid fish in the 70s.

Around midday the tide turned and started to come in.

Straight away we tied on some large long shot bombers and started to troll up the middle of the river.

Fish were showing on the sounder and it was not long before my bomber was slammed by a good fish.

After a serious aerial display Tam netted the fish and it measured 84cm before release.

We continued trolling and my lure was once again scoffed by a big fish.

This was a slightly better fish which measured 85cm before release.

The barra were on the chew and in the next 20 minutes I managed to land another great fish at 88cm and drop another, while Tam also dropped one in the 80s right at the boat.

We followed the fish up the river on the incoming tide and could still see them on the sounder, but they stopped feeding.

We returned to the mouth and hooked and dropped another fish before heading home in the afternoon.
