Palmerston council launches new local fishing competition with $10k worth of prizes on offer
PALMERSTON locals have 10,000 more reasons to get out and enjoy fishing in their area with the city’s first ever council-run fishing competition launching over the weekend.

FISHING has just gotten even bigger in Palmerston with a newly launched competition encouraging fishos to snag a barra in the one of the local lakes.
The catch and release competition gives fishos the chance the reel in a barra along with their share of more than $10,000 worth of prizes.

16-year-old Palmerston fisho Sol Healy-Morrison said the competition gave more incentive for locals to head out and enjoy Palmerston’s lakes and waterways.
“I try to head out three times a week, whenever I have free time,” he said.
“When there’s a reward on the line everyone wants to get into it.”
