I RECEIVED this email from Grant Edwards about his trip to the South Alligator on Good Friday with his mate Kevin.
“Hit the South over Easter after a lot of back and forth about where to go between the Daly coastal creeks or Shady coastal creeks or the top or bottom of the South with good mate Kevin Tandogac.
“After a last minute check of weather and tides I thought there may be some good water still travelling in and out of the mouth of the South with the tides still building and the lack of fresh about.
“The trip started OK I suppose hooking a good fish on the top of the tide in the morning about 95 or so, although we lost it close to the boat it was still a positive sign of things to come for the next two days.
“Not long after Kevin picked up a 105 on the outgoing tide in Brook creek among a few other fish up to 90. Then we decided to head off over to the East Alligator for a look over the low, with Kevin picking up a new PB of 108 not long into the incoming tide. Kevin also dropped another couple of good fish.
“On Saturday we returned to Brook for the morning tide with not as much luck and we put it down to dirty water with the bigger tides. Still a few fish around the 85cm mark, but no big fish.
“So we headed back up the river only to hit a sandbar on the top half of the outgoing tide and then spend 5-6 hours on it before continuing on our way home. Stand out lure of the trip was definitely the Big ASS B52 in Purple Rain.”
