Regular fishing was too easy for these Territorians - so they decided to try and catch a shark with their bare hands.
In the video, shot on the Territory’s remote Cobourg Peninsula, the men can be seen attracting one of the numerous local sharks with a large piece of fish tied to the end of a rope.
“I’ve got a nibble... here we go,” says one of the men as the rope starts to twitch.
Once they get a solid connection, they attempt to drag the shark close enough to the beach to grab it.

Despite several attempts, and some fortifying green can for extra strength, they ultimately fail in their bold endeavour.
“You just gotta keep walking backwards,” is the sage advice offered by one of the men, clearly the most experienced shark wrangler present.
It’s easier said than done though, as the sizeable sharks frequently threaten to drag their would-be-captors into the water rather than the other way around.
At one point a shark is hanging out so close to the water’s edge that one of the men tries to sneak up on it and grab it. Displaying all the stealth and grace of a water buffalo, he stalks his prey before making a desperate grab.
The shark was clearly just taunting him - or perhaps just trying to lure him closer - and swims off. Possibly laughing.
