IT’S BEEN a cracking week of run-off barra fishing for sure!

Chambers Bay fired on the neaps again as crowds flocked to troll the entrances to both main systems.

While the fishing wasn’t red-hot it was consistent and if you spent the time on the water there was a good chance that you’d be rewarded with a trophy fish.

This week’s blustery westerly winds may chop up the bay and make fishing tough, but I’m sure plenty will head out to try their luck.

Big 17A gold Bombers have been doing the damage with the big Longshot Bomber also a firm favourite. Shane Compain has been having a cracking year so far, and had an amazing night-time session on the Daly River recently, waking up at 2am to big boofs all around the boat.

Big soft plastic Bazz Baits fished deep did the damage and he got some fish well over the metre mark. Justin Jones from Obsession Safaris has also had a cracker first charter, putting his clients on to some metre-plus chromies in the Shady system.

The big Gold Longshot Bomber has been nailing the big girls for him this year. Drop in and see the boy at Fishing and Outdoor World to pick a few up while there’s some left!
