Daniel Harris and I recently ventured out for a day fishing some of our favourite coastal creeks. Loads of mullet skittered around in the shallow creek with the first of the incoming tide. The fishing was fairly slow at first, but as that tide pushed in the barra came with it.
Plenty of 70s and 80s fell to slow twitched Bombers, then right on the turn of the tide the big girl made her error, nailing Daniel’s 17A chartreuse/silver bomber. The fight was a bit disappointing, and I soon cradled a solid barra into the boat for a quick photo session.
She took a bit of reviving but soon swam away strongly. As the tide dropped out we had a full on boof session, and downsizing to the small Killalure 2Deadly did the damage as they weren’t hitting our bigger lures.
With great tides this weekend, bluewater and major rivers are options. The building moon will suit overnighters and night fishing, so get among it.
Catch ya on the water.
