WHILE GleNTi won’t take place in Darwin this year, Saturday will be the first annual Festival of Agios Panteleimon, the patron saint of Kalymnos.
Darwin Greek Community president Nick Poniris said the event celebrated Kalymnian culture as well as the name day of the patron saint.
He said the event would be smaller than GleNTi but there would be a sufficient replacement in 2020.
“We’re going to give it the feel you’re at GleNTi, when you’re not,” he said.
“We’d like to see this event happen every year, at this time of year on these grounds.”
Caramella Patisserie owner Manolis Tsougranis will sell his mille-feuille, troufla and cream horns at the event.
“It’ll be a festival with good food, dancing and culture of the Greeks,” he said.
“We try to keep the tradition going in the food we bring, people like these desserts.”
