Star’s ‘see-through’ bikini proves revealing trend has gone ‘too far’

Ashy Bines was shocked when her cossie exposed “literally everything” in water – but the issue proves revealing swimwear has gone “too far”.

Aussie influencer calls out major bikini problem

An Australian influencer has revealed her horror at discovering her bikini became completely see-through when in the water – with many stating it proves swimwear trends have gone “too far”.

Ashy Bines bought a new two-piece cossie from an unnamed brand, stating she “loved the fit”, and decided to wear the yellow bikini for a dip in her home pool.

However, within moments of entering the water, her husband Steve Evans pointed out he could “literally see everything”, as the fabric had become “see-through”.

The 35-year-old, who has over 1 million followers, was left aghast by the situation – and contacted the brand to complain the item was faulty.

After being told there was nothing wrong with the item, Bines – who rose to online fame as a result of her Bikini Body Challenge exercise program – took to take to social media to ask if the daring “look” was now “normal”, and the response was surprising.

“I bought a bikini online recently, I tried them on, I loved the fit, they were a bright yellow colour,” she said in a viral video.

“Jumped in the pool with my family and my husband starts laughing. ‘Babe, I don’t know if that’s the look you’re going for and if so, all good, but I can literally see everything. I can see it all’.”

While Steve was quick to state he had “no complaints” about the revealing nature of the swimmers, he stressed she “couldn’t wear them out”, a point Bines agreed with.

“Damn it, these are brand new,” she continued, explaining she later went back to the website to check the product description, fearing she’d accidentally bought a see-through bikini.

After confirming she hadn’t, she contacted the brand to explain the cossie was “faulty” and was stunned when she was told despite being “completely see through”, the bikini was how it was designed to be.

“Would you not test the bikinis to make sure they’re not see though?” she said.

“And if you are, and that’s the look you’re going for, would you not put that in the description box.

“These are faulty, they are completely see-through.”

Many were outraged by the situation, but said it’s a telling sign of how minuscule and revealing swimwear had become in recent times.

“Oh, no way!! Imagine if the first time someone wears them is in a PUBLIC space,” someone said.

“Bikinis have gotten so small lately, but that’s too far,” one added.

As one remarked: “At that point what’s the point to even get dressed?”

Others claimed the brand was at fault, stating the bikini was “not fit for purpose”, which means Bines was protected by consumer law.

Women also pleaded for the fitness influencer to name the brand so they could “avoid buying”.

“That’s definitely not normal! Unless you’re buying one that is a net bikini,” one woman said.

“So can we actually know the brand? I’d prefer to not spend my money there,” another pushed.
