Nadia Bartel has always been a fan of double denim – and the fashion designer is here to prove the trend is here to stay.

It’s a style you either love or loathe, but nonetheless double denim has been on the rise for years and Nadia is here for it.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the former wife of AFL star Jimmy Bartel, shared a snap “absolutely rocking” a pair of light denim cargo jeans and a slightly darker long sleeve denim crop.

She completed the look with a pair of white pointy heels and matching bag.

The Henne founder put the question to her half a million followers about what they think about the look.

“Double denim too much?” she asked.

Her post instantly attracted more than a hundred comments from followers and celebrities alike including model Elyse Knowles who branded it as “cute”.

“Double denim dreams,” celebrity makeup artist, Max May wrote.

One fan commented: “Nope always love a bit of double denim,” while another added: “Nailed it”.

Nadia’s outfit is from New York and Paris-based store The Frankie Shop. The jeans are $161, while the denim jacket is $249.

Nadia has always been a lover of denim on denim. In fact, back in 2014, she wrote a blog about her favourite double denim looks and tips on how to make it work.

However, she also pointed why she is a “a little cautious”, referencing “bad childhood memories of Mum rocking acid-wash denim with her crazy perm”.

“Unfortunately still stuck in my head,” she wrote at the time.

She said the most important rule when it comes to double denim, is to wear contrasting washes – a tip she continues to fulfil today with her recent denim outfit.

“Your shades of denim don’t need to match. Mixing darker denim with lighter shades creates a great contrast between the pieces and is one of best ways to make denim-on-denim work.,” she wrote in her blog.

“You can always go out of the blue zone and wear white denim, black, acid-wash greys or even coloured denim.”

She also likes to mix up different shapes together.

“Throw on those distressed jeans with a slim-cut chambray shirt, you could try tucking the shirt in and buttoning up the top, mixing up tailored and classic pieces with relaxed styles is key,” she added.

The mother-of-two said it is important to “keep it polished”.

“Double denim can tend to look a little unpolished, to avoid looking like you just rolled out of bed, you need to make your denim look put together. Try glam hair and polished makeup, with a pop of colour on the lips.”

She suggested a crisp shirt, to keep the look classic.

And lastly, accessorise.

“The way you accessorise with your denim is important, I normally stick to neutral colours, but with all denim you have room to be more adventurous,” she advised.
