A model with enormous “breasts” has stunned onlookers at Paris Fashion Week, dividing the internet after a video of the eye-catching moment went viral.

In a clip posted on X that has now amassed over 29.3 million views, a male model struts down the catwalk, slightly smirking while wearing realistic-looking DD prosthetic breasts.

He wore nothing else except a pair of black unbuttoned trousers, as guests of the fashion show giggled and pulled out their smartphones to film.

Also during the show, a female model sported a fake male chest, complete with abs and pecs.

It’s social media gold, and something the designer – Dutch-born Duran Lantink – was likely fully aware of when orchestrating the stunt.

Lantink is no stranger to nudity or genitalia-inspired fashion.

In 2019, the year he launched his namesake label, he designed a pair of “vagina pants” for Janelle Monáe’s “Pynk” music video.

Meanwhile, his most recent collection showcased models in arse-less pants and featured model Mica Argañaraz wearing a latex breastplate.

“It’s about cosplay, it’s playing with bad taste, it’s about form,” Lantink told WWD about his new collection, which used foam padding to explore distorted body shapes.

“Every season, we’re trying to sort of surprise ourselves with how can we change an original piece into something we find interesting.

“And we’re gonna do whatever the f**k we want because we’re free.”

However, this vision was perhaps overshadowed by the countless videos featuring the bouncing breasts moment, which was circulated without any context.

On X, many were initially confused about whether they were real.

“A dude got breast implants?” asked one.

“This is confusing me,” admitted another.

Eventually people realised they were fake and began discussing the artistry and intention behind the decision.

Some praised the boldness of the design, while others condemned it as a tasteless gimmick.

“Honestly … this is ridiculous. This is NOT fashion or art or whatever you think it might be,” said one.

“No one would be caught dead wearing anything shown on this runway,” pointed out another.

“Women’s bodies are not costumes!” a third quipped.

“Are they trying to make fun of the female body?” a fourth questioned.

Someone else called it “objectification” of the female body “just for attention”, while one person argued, “To be fair, they opened the show with someone in a muscle suit, so they objectified both men and women”.

Others joked that they wanted to buy the outfit, with one saying, “As someone with an A-cup – can I have this?”

Prosthetic breasts and nipples are nothing new, especially in fashion and drag culture.

For instance, artist and fashion designer Akeem Smith has used prosthetic bodysuits to comment on body image, according to The Cut.

However, even some in the fashion world seemingly critiqued Lantink, including Dilara Findikoglu, the designer of Julia Fox’s nearly nude post-Oscars dress.

She took to Instagram echoing the sentiments of other commenters.

“Disappointed to see mockery of the female body by a young male designer that I actually loved and respected,” she said. “Honestly it’s so tiring to see men still using our bodies in this medieval mindset”.

Nevertheless, the TikTok bait has still undoubtedly helped boost awareness of Lantink, who is a relatively small designer.

WWD reported in January that Lantink is being considered for the role of creative director for Jean Paul Gaultier.
