NT Cracker Night unleashed

HOT Dub Time Machine and Eskimo Joe will be among the legendary Aussie bands performing in Darwin for Territory Day.

Hot Dub Time Machine and Eskimo Joe will play at Mindil Beach, with Busby Marou performing in Alice Springs.

Personal firecrackers will also be allowed to return in the longheld Territory Day tradition.

It comes after Cracker Night was scrapped last year due to the pandemic.

“That is the plan, but we still do need to remember that we are in a global pandemic and those COVID measures are to make sure that when you are letting off those crackers and celebrating Territory Day, you not only do it in a safe manner...but also remembering that COVID is an ever present threat in our community,” said Ms Fyles.

NT Tourism Minister Natasha Fyles is set to announce today that the famous Territory Day celebration can once again be held on July 1, with a cracking (pun intended) line-up of performers making their way to the Top End.

It follows the famous Cracker Night being scrapped last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mindil Beach has long been host to the biggest fireworks display of Territory Day.

Last year celebrations were cancelled amid the Covid-19 pandemic, with Chief Minister Michael Gunner citing an extra burden on the healthcare system and the fact fireworks were sourced from “around Wuhan”.
