Darwin hasn’t been the only place to feel the heat recently as other parts of the Top End have topped out at much higher temperatures still.
Temperature records were broken at:
Tindal RAAF - 42.7C on October 17
Douglas River – 44.1C on October 20
Batchelor – 41.9C on October 20
Middle Point – 42.5C on October 20
The Bureau of Meteorology’s Chris Kent said overnight temperatures in Darwin had been a degree or two below average during most of October ranging between 22-24C, but for the rest of this week the temperature will only drop to 25C overnight, which is consistent with the average overnight minimum of 24.9C.

“More moisture in the air means it will feel more humid across the Top End for the rest of this week, but this also means there’s a slight to medium chance of a shower or storm in the north west Top End, including Darwin this weekend,” Mr Kent said.
No rain has been recorded in Darwin so far since the official start of the Wet season.
