THE Deck Bar has Darwin’s fourth best laksa.

The CBD pub is the only venue in the Top 5 that doesn’t specialise in the Malaysian delicacy.

It impressed our Top End panel of self-confessed laksa addicts. And they’re a hard mob to please.

They scrutinised everything in search of the perfect combination of spice, noodles and consistency of the coconut broth.

The universal verdict was the broth was the standout component of the Deck Bar laksa.

Locals can’t seem to get enough of it, too.

The Deck Bar was the third most-suggested venue to try when we asked for submissions on Facebook.

They also do takeaway, complete with fresh chilli and lime.

The Deck Bar’s head chef Bruce Shin said their laksa recipe was a trade secret.

“We go to the Rapid Creek markets and get our fresh ingredients every Sunday,” he said.

They also make their own laksa paste.

Mr Shin said they sell about 10kg of noodles and 30 litres of laksa every day.

The Deck Bar pipped Laksa House — also known as Warung Iby Amye or “Sexy Amye’s” — for fourth spot.

On Saturday, the day made famous in Darwin for its market laksa, we’ll reveal the top three.
