Controversial debate erupts over 'correct' way to eat two-minute noodles

An Aussie foodie has shared a video of how she cooks the tasty snack - and apparently we've been doing it wrong.

Aussie sparks controversial debate over the 'correct' way to make 2-minute noodles

The whole point of two-minute noodles is to simplify the meal-making process, right?

You just add boiling water, chuck in the flavour sachet and wait to devour a soupy cup of carby deliciousness

But leave it to the internet to turn this simplicity into a heated debate about the 'right' way to eat them.

Various camps have been passionately defending their approaches and it seems like everyone's got beef (haha, get it?) with everyone.

So — are you in team soup or no soup?

Yep, people really toss out that tasty broth.

The video that kicked off the two-minute noodle debate

TikToker @abbey_ohagan kicked off the debate when she shared her opinion on how to correctly make two-minute noodles.

While filming herself making them, she explains, "So, when I make two-minute noodles, I just do it the way it says it on the packet."

She continues, "I'll boil the kettle, put in the hot water, put the stuff in, cover it and let it cook and marinate."

However, there's a different method she says she can't understand.

"The thing that gets me is that so many people, once this is done, will drain all of the water out."

Abbey adds: "To me, that is like borderline psychopathic. Because the water with like all the goodness is the best part.

"But then some people also put in the seasoning after draining and they don’t have that beautiful brothy water.

"I don’t know, it keeps me up at night."

According to Maggi's instructions, the noodles can be "served with or without broth as desired."

"I ain't drinking soup, I'm eating noodles"

Abbey's video has now racked up 230,000 views, with many of the 300+ commenters sharing the method they swear by.

"Drain water then add flavours, hits different. The flavour is stronger, not watered down," one person explained.

"Who wants soggy noodles?" someone else asked.

Then one user made the point, "I ain't drinking soup, I'm eating noodles. It's the only way to eat it."

"The broth is better than the noodles"

But those on the other side of the fence argued, "The broth is the best part, that's why I'm eating the noodles!"

"Same," someone agreed. "The broth is better than the noodles."

"WHO DRAINS THE LIQUID?! 🤣" another viewer asked.

Then one woman claimed that "draining the water is literally illegal."

Someone else took the middle ground and suggested, "You can add half of the flavouring then drain half the water and add the rest flavour for the best of both worlds."

Then this person skipped the water debate altogether and said, "I just eat them completely dry."

Other flavour suggestions rolled in...

Then others discussed various flavour add-ins instead.

"I add half a cup of mixed veggies," said one.

"I add soy sauce, such a flavour bomb," added another.

"I eat mine with plastic cheese. It's not everyone's cup of tea but I could honestly live off it."
