Hunters still have an opportunity to put magpie geese on the Christmas feast table with the season not finishing on private land and Harrison Dam and Shoal Bay hunting reserves until January 9.
Be aware though that hunting closes on Howard Swamp and Lambell’s Lagoon on December 23.
Many years ago, the season would have been closing today, but NT Field and Game lobbied hard to extend the season through to after New Year’s Day so tradies and others could enjoy hunting with family on their Christmas holidays.
So, make sure you take full advantage of this at the reserves and stock up on birds to last through the off season.
If families are looking for last minute gift ideas, you cannot go past shopping for those little and big hunters at gun shops like Coolalinga Guns and Ammo.
They have a huge range of products that will fit any budget from guns, safes, butchery equipment, meat smokers and camouflage apparel.
Their stainless-steel vacuum stubby holders are competitively priced under the popular brand and work just as well keeping those precious cans cold this time of year.
NT Field and Game also have gift vouchers to any value that make great stocking stuffers for clay target shooters available at the club for purchase on Friday afternoon and Sunday morning.
These can be used to purchase rounds of clay targets, ammunition or some of the apparel items for sale at the club.
The NT Field and Game range will be open as usual throughout the Festive Season break every Friday from 4pm and Sunday morning from 9am till noon, even Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
Everyone is welcome and even new shooters are accommodated with coaching, hire guns and supervision.
Merry Christmas to all, especially the hunters and clay target shooting community of the Northern Territory.
