Aussies sick of illegal dumping ruining bushland

“Hope they  give them a good huge fine to make others think twice in the future”

Nothing gets Aussies more riled up than people ruining our beloved bushland, whether it be tourists, or locals who simply can’t be bothered.

A WA resident has taken to social media to rant about the latter - and people have nothing good to say about it.

It’s embarrassing!

A Perth local has taken to Reddit exposing an incident of illegal dumping in nearby bushland.

The photo posted, which shows what looks like plaster board and possibly asbestos sheeting, is located in Baldivis on a track which would otherwise be the perfect spot to walk your dog - what this person was trying to do before stumbling upon the waste.

“Why don't we have somewhere free and legal for these f*ckwits to dump trash, instead of this shit,” the poster said.

Littering in Western Australia is an offence under the Litter Act 1979, with illegal dumping specifically being prosecuted under the Environmental Protection Act 1986, carrying a maximum penalty of $62,500 for individuals and $125,000 for corporate bodies.

“Hate these kinds of people”

Commenters on the post were quick to criticise those who litter, particularly in bushland like this.

“You could pay people to dump responsibly, and there'd still be dickheads who'd do this,” one person said.

“Hope they find some information to identify these farkers and give them a good huge fine to make others think twice in the future,” another agreed.

“Hate these kinds of people,” said a third.

Others emphasised it’s not just bushland copping the brunt of it.

“Sometimes it is not even a bush track. You go to a new subdivision as soon as roads are done and no houses are being built, and there is crap dumped,” one person said.

“I used to live in inner-city Perth and my street was a constant dumping ground,” said another.

Would a free tip work?

As for the poster’s original proposal, commenters were certain - nothing would stop these people.

“If people don't give a damn, you can't reasonably expect them to ‘do the right thing’ and take their shit to a proper dump site even if it was free,” said one person.

“Eh, even if there was, people are lazy. It would have to be, someone comes out within an hour to wherever the perpetrator is on a whim and they might be responsible enough to see it disposed of properly,” said another.

“In Kalgoorlie the tip is free and (I think) open every day. Some mouth breathers still dumped rubbish in the bush,” another pointed out.

“Mate I don’t think they would take it there anyway. They would have to sort it,” said a fourth.
