'A disgrace': Sydneysider baffled by the rogue way this cafe served croissant

"This would start a riot in Paris!"

There’s nothing like the luxury of sitting down for a weekend breakfast at your favourite cafe.

Your go-to coffee order served alongside a delicious dish or pastry that you did not have to make.

But one Aussie was left speechless when his croissant arrived, immediately taking to the Manly Living Facebook group to share his amusement.

“At least the butter was fresh.”

“Just had to post this for a chuckle on a wet Monday....,” the unhappy patron wrote in the post.

“As served by Harbord Diggers Cafe last Sunday. At least the butter was fresh.”

“Looks like it has been run over.”

The squashed croissant attracted dozens of comments from unimpressed pastry-loving locals.

While some thought it looked perfectly “delicious” as it was, most felt it needed some fattening up, perhaps with the assistance of a defibrillator.

“That is a disgrace! It would be enough to start a riot in Paris,” one user wrote.

“Looks like it’s been run over,” another said, with a third stating it looked “deflated” and a fourth said it looked like “road kill”.

Many commenters agreed that it looked as if the chef had sat on the croissant which when served more traditionally, should instead look fluffy and rounded in shape.

Some cheeky users suggested giving the flattened French pastry a new name: “Crushoint”, “squashant” and “French flatbread”, to name just a few.

“It went back.”

The original poster said that after snapping a photo of the skinny snack, he did not actually eat it.

“It went back, along with a cold coffee,” he replied to one of the commenters who asked what he did with it.

“The replacements were just fine.”

Thank goodness for that.
