“That’s a bit weird”
An Aussie mum on TikTok as @wifeoflucifer_ has taken to the app after a strange restaurant experience.
“We ordered, for the boys, chicken tenders and chips. There were no nuggets on the menu, for reference, there was chicken schnitzel on the menu,” she said.
“[My son] said ‘I want nuggets’... and I was like, ‘Do I do the tenders, or do I do the schnitzel?’, and I said to do the tenders, because they’re easier to cut.
“The food comes, and they’re like ‘Your grilled chicken and chips?’. And I said, ‘Oh, we ordered the chicken tenders’, and the lady’s like ‘Yeah, these are our chicken tenders, they’re grilled’.”
The woman said she then asked the waitress if that’s the norm, leading to even more confusion.
“I said that chicken tenders are usually a strip that’s crumbed and fried, and they said that they had that, and that’s the schnitzel,” she said.
“Their chicken tenders on their menu is a grilled piece of chicken that they cut into slices. It was nice, the boys ate it, and they liked it, but I just feel like that’s a bit weird?”

“What kid wants grilled chicken?”
Commenters on the post agreed with the woman, saying that especially on a kids menu, they would expect chicken tenders not to be grilled.
“On a kids menu I would not be expecting grilled,” said one commenter.
“my fussy eater wouldn't eat grilled chicken. I agree, if I ordered tenders I'd assume breaded chicken,” said another.
“What kid wants grilled chicken?” another responded.
“Yeah nah my kids would be like lady these aren’t tendies no thanks,” another commenter agreed.
“They definitely need to update their menu!”
Others said that even though the word ‘tenders’ doesn’t necessarily mean the chicken will come out crumbed, some clarification is definitely warranted.
“Chicken tenders are crumbed. They definitely need to update their menu!” said one commenter.
“I definitely would expect them to be crumbed. To me grilled chicken is called- grilled chicken and i would have been confused too!” another agreed.
“They should definitely change it to grilled chicken tenders and chips. But I understand that chicken tenders are actually a cut of meat but not everyone knows that,” a third said.
“Technically tenders could be the tenderloin part of the chicken breast cooked any way but really we’re all expecting crumbed chicken,” said another commenter.
