WHEN an Irishman walks up to the bar he’s most likely to order a Guinness, says SkyCity senior bartender Ahad Hussain ‘Sunday’ Mishu.
Mr Mishu said the dry stout was most popular on St Patrick’s Day, and expected to pour hundreds of Guinness pints this weekend as part of the celebrations.

Mr Mishu said St Patrick’s Day crowds were usually great quality. “It’s busy – we get smashed, but it’s a lot of fun,” he said. “They’re normally really cheerful, just having a good time.” Last year, Cyclone Marcus forced the casino – and venues across Darwin – to cancel St Paddy’s Day events, so the team is looking forward to celebrating hard enough for two years.
Mr Mishu said after Guinness, the most popular bevvie this Sunday was likely to be Jameson – an Irish whiskey typically drunk on the rocks.
This weekend, the casino is serving up a Jameson-based cocktail called the Green Leprechaun, which is already proving popular with the Sandbar crowds.
For those keen to start the party early, Shenannigans Darwin and Darwin Turf Club is today hosting a race day – gates open at 10am.
