Melanie C — best known by her nickname Sporty Spice as part of the world-conquering Spice Girls — arrived in Darwin on Wednesday ahead of her performance at Mayberry.

Coming off the plane from Brisbane in a grey tracksuit many fellow commuters were oblivious that they were sharing an aisle with the 1990s chart topper.

The Spice Girl was accompanied by her entourage, one of whom tried to block journalists from filming the celebrity’s arrival in the Top End.

Even as Mel C waved to the cameras, one of her security guards stood in the way asking: “Hi guys, how are you? Good. So nice to see you”.

While Mel C is best known for her role with the 90s girl power group, she has gone on to have a strong solo career.

She has co-written 11 UK number-ones — more than any other female artist in chart history — and is the only woman to top the charts as a solo artist, as part of a duo, quartet, and quintet.

Mel C has performed at Glastonbury, Pacha Ibiza and New York’s Times Square — and now Darwin.

The Spice Girl is expected to play a set at the Mayberry on Wednesday night and for those who wannabe there tickets cost $45.
