In an Australian exclusive, international DJ and social media star Dom Whiting, aka DJ on a Bike, is bringing his popular Drum and Bass bike ride to the streets of Darwin.
The free event on May 4 is being spearheaded by Tourism NT and Activate Darwin as part of a marketing campaign to attract international working holiday makers to the Territory.
And, of course, offering a treat for all locals inclined towards the sounds of remixed car horns and getting silly with strangers.
Thousands of music lovers globally have already taken part in Whiting’s upbeat rides, which started during UK Covid lockdowns and have since spread through Britain, Europe and Dubai.
Tourism department chief executive Scott Lovett said Darwin was a fantastic, unique and vibrant place to work and play, so nabbing “an equally vibrant event with a hugely appealing influencer like Dom” was a great win.
“Better still, Darwin is the only place in Australia where people can see Dom and participate in this fun, public event. It proves that we really are different in every sense,” he said.
Whiting said since starting DNB on the Bike in 2021 he had yet to travel to Asia, the Pacific or Australia, and was excited to reach the Top End for an exclusive show in the region.
“I’ve heard the Northern Territory is where the fun happens in Australia, so I can’t wait to get out there and get amongst it,” he said.
“We’re going to ride around the city and then finish down at the Waterfront, and I invite everyone to join in and come for a ride, a run, or a dance with us.”
The ride starts at 4pm at the Esplanade and ends around 5.30pm with a live-music party at the Darwin Waterfront Precinct.
