Building on the “Reflect. Respect. Celebrate” theme, the 2025 Festival of Us has an incredible program of free local entertainment, workshops, and multicultural market food offerings on January 26.
Kicking off early at the Darwin Waterfront with cultural ceremonies and a fun run, the festival will then move to the Territory Netball Stadium in Marrara for the afternoon program of events – including an appearance from Bluey.
The morning will start with a Welcome to Country by Australia Day Council NT’s chair Richard Fejo, ahead of the 2.5km Oz Run at 7am, and a smoking ceremony.
The afternoon’s activities will be underpinned by a keynote from Rana Hussain, a trailblazing advocate for inclusion and belonging, known for her work in elite sport and media.
From 11am at the netball stadium attendees can catch local stars including rapper Yung Milla, dance group
PHLtheBeat, plus the musical wonder of Dr Shellie Morris and Arrkula Yinbayarra (Together We Sing) from the remote Gulf of Carpentaria.
There’s also fun with Fairy Jill, Zumba, art workshops, games, and roving entertainment.
The Multicultural Council of the NT is once again supporting a free community dinner, with meals catered by local suppliers.“Australia Day is a time to reflect on the beauty of our shared identities, knowledge, and diverse cultures,” Dr Fejo said.
“With over 60,000 years of history, Australia offers a rich story that we can all contribute to as we move forward together.
“The Festival of Us continues to be a multicultural, inclusive event for all ages and abilities, celebrating the vibrant communities that make the Northern Territory and Australia such special places.
