Fresh from breaking the internet by posing with a snake in his undies, Robert Irwin is heading to the ballroom.
The 21-year-old wildlife expert has officially been revealed as the first celebrity contestant for the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars USA.
Irwin is following in the footsteps of his sister, Bindi Irwin, who claimed the Mirrorball Trophy in 2015 alongside Derek Hough.
Robert, son of the late Steve Irwin, recently made headlines for his bold campaign with Aussie underwear brand Bonds.
Speaking about his latest adventure, Irwin said he was “at a point in my life where I want to do as many different, exciting, and random things as possible”.
“If it makes me a little nervous or gives me an adrenaline rush,” he said.
“That’s exactly where I want to be.”
Friends and family were quick to support Irwin on the Dancing With The Stars Instagram announcement.
“CRIKEY! Cannot wait!!! Beyond proud of you,” his sister Bindi wrote.
“This is the best day of my life,” a user commented.
“If Rylee is his partner they will soar,” another wrote, referring to fan favourite dancer Rylee Arnold.
Arnold was paired with Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik last season, finishing in fourth place.
The announcement comes on the heels of Dancing with the Stars’s most successful season in years, with Irwin expected to hit the ballroom in September.
