The wellness industry is currently booming around the world, and Sampson has been putting some of its practices under the microscope to see if they’re as good for us as they claim to be.

Sampson took to X, formerly know as Twitter, on Tuesday to reveal he’d undergone a treatment involving the use of leeches.

In a short video Sampson pulled down the dressing on his stomach and revealed that the wound left from the leech treatment was covered in blood and still not closed.

“Well it’s the next morning. I want to change my wound and see what those leeches have done to me … here we go,” he said, appearing shocked at the amount of blood dripping from the wound. “Oh gross, oh boy. That does not look good!”

He tweeted: “WARNING this was a little too graphic for 7:30 timeslot. Here’s what happened after one treatment! #mirrormirror on WELLNESS starts tomorrow @Channel10AU”.

Fans rushed to show their concern, with one replying: “Bloody hell, that is not OK, I hope you have/had a real medical doctor on standby and saw them. I am gobsmacked.”

“Wow, that’s horrific. Hope it heals up OK,” said another, while comedian Charlie Pickering told Sampson: “Dude! You do NOT have to do this!”

For the show’s second season, Sampson explored a spectrum of wellness therapies in a bid to prove or debunk them.

“It’s crucial to scrutinise the wellness tips and tricks that flood our feeds daily,” said the star of the show.

The two-night event will be delving into common and unconventional health practices, including those that may seem extreme to viewers, like leech therapy.

The first episode of Channel 10’s Mirror Mirror: Are You Well? will air after The Project on Wednesday, November 22 at 7:30pm.
