MasterChef Australia: Viewers say some contestants are being ‘done dirty’ by editing

Viewers of this year’s series have expressed their shock over a detail spotted in recent episodes.

MasterChef Australia viewers suggested that some of this year’s talented contestants are being done “dirty” by the show’s editing.

Viewers were introduced to a group of new MasterChef Australia contestants last week who are all battling it out for the whopping $250,000 prize.

The series has become another success for 10, who have enjoyed a packed year with other hit shows including I’m A Celebrity.

With so much talent in one kitchen, some viewers have taken to social media to suggest that some of the stars aren’t getting as much screentime as they deserve.

Following last week’s episodes, some fans revealed they were stunned to learn that there were two contestants named Josh in the competition.

“If Josh goes out tonight, the editors and producers did him so dirty showing him for the first time tonight #MasterChefAU,” commented one fan after Sunday night’s show.

Another agreed, saying: “Josh, sorry but I legit never saw you on my screen at all last week #MasterChefAU”.

“We haven’t seen many dishes from Josh? #MasterChefAU,” remarked another, with a fourth saying: “We haven’t seen Josh at all till tonight?”

Another predicted that both Josh [Perry] and Darrsh Clarke would be some of the contestants to be eliminated early on, tweeting: “If Josh goes home, Darrsh wouldn’t be far behind because he’s basically had no screen time either. #MasterChefAu”.

The comments about Josh Perry came after he had a very close call with a raw stake, which some viewers teased was “still mooing”.

The undercooked fillet steak almost ended the aspiring chef’s dreams of winning the show.

However, in the end it was Western Australian chef James who ended up being kicked out the kitchen first.

While he was hoping to impress, his squid-based dish was undercooked and considered the “least impressive” dish by beloved judge Poh Ling Yeow.

“It’s been a privilege to be with these guys and to be cooking in front of your kind watchful eyes,” the 38-year-old said. “It’s that weird feeling of being proud of yourself, but also disappointed.”

Fans have been loving Yeow, with many remarking that she’s been a breath of fresh air and a fabulous addition to the panel this year.

“I love Poh as a judge, she’s empathetic, articulate and funny,” said a viewer, with another adding: “Poh’s already my favourite judge”.

MasterChef Australia airs Monday through to Thursday at 7:30pm on 10.
