Nearly 10 years on from his controversial exit from his hit TV series, a former child star has been spotted in LA in a rare public appearance.

Former child star Angus T. Jones has been spotted walking around a Los Angeles neighbourhood, in his first public sighting in a year.

The ex-Two And A Half Men star, 29, sported a thick beard and wore a backwards cap and glasses as he ran errands, nearly a decade after quitting the hit series.

Jones turned his back on Hollywood in 2014, walking away from the show that had made him a household name – and a multi-millionaire.

He was first cast as Jake Harper in the comedy series back in 2003, the son of divorced, uptight dad Alan (Jon Cryer) who moves in with his rich, freewheeling brother Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen) after his marriage breakdown.

As the show’s popularity grew over the seasons, so too did the trio’s salaries.

Jones became the highest paid child actor on television in 2010, aged just 17, when his new contract awarded him $10.6 million over the forthcoming two seasons.

This amounted to $410,000 per half-hour episode for an average of 22 episodes a season.

However, in 2012, Jones made headlines after revealing out of the blue that he had become a devout Christian, declaring he’d been baptised and no longer wanted to appear on the show – dubbing it “filth”, and urging people not to watch it.

“Jake from Two And A Half Men means nothing,” he said in a YouTube video on the Forerunner Church account while discussing his religious awakening.

“He is a non-existent character. If you watch Two And A Half Men, please stop watching Two And A Half Men. I’m on Two And A Half Men and I don’t want to be on it.

“There’s no playing around when it comes to eternity. People will see us and be like, ‘I can be a Christian and be on a show like Two And A Half Men. You can’t. You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like that. I know I can’t.”

Fresh from the controversy surrounding Sheen’s highly publicised axing from the show just one year earlier, US network CBS took swift action and announced in April 2013 that Jones being downgraded to a “recurring” status.

However, the young actor wound up being completely absent for the 11th season.

In 2014, Jones officially announced he was leaving Two And A Half Men, explaining that he had been “a paid hypocrite” in recent seasons.

“I wasn’t OK with it and I was still doing it,” Jones said in an interview at the time.

“It was making light of topics in our world that are really problems for a lot of people.”

However, Jones made a cameo in the season 12 series finale, which aired in February 2015.

He hasn’t appeared on screen again since, apart from a brief feature in a web series called Horace And Pete in 2016.
