Carpool Karaoke king James Corden is set to bring his The Late Late Show to Australia in 2021.

The popular television star, who hosts the American late-night talk and comedy show on CBS, is said to have signed up for an Aussie tour similar to those by US celebrities Oprah and Ellen DeGeneres in recent years.

Network Ten, which was acquired by CBS in 2017, confirmed the news on Saturday.

Ten’s chief content officer Beverley McGarvey said: “We are hoping James and his team will make it to Australia in 2021 to film some shows. We will have more information on that next year.”

Sunday Confidential understands Corden will film a number of episodes of his show in an Oprah-style arena and invite some of the biggest names in Australian entertainment to take part in his Carpool Karaoke drives.

The roster of celebrity guests who could take part in Carpool Karaoke during Corden’s jaunt includes Liam and Chris Hemsworth, Margot Robbie, Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Sia, Kylie Minogue, Keith Urban and 5SOS.

The trip won’t be Corden’s first to Australia, with the English comedian, 41, having snuck into Sydney last month where he spent time with family and watched musical Muriel’s Wedding at the Sydney Lyric Theatre. His aunt and uncle live in Melbourne.

His program, which has 2.7 million Instagram followers and lures 1.2 million viewers every week night, has previously broadcast out of London’s historic Central Hall Westminster.

His three stints in London were a huge success, with the comedian doing Carpool Karaoke with Paul McCartney, and talking to guests including Millie Bobby Brown, Gillian Anderson, Jessica Chastain and Tom Hanks.
