SAMANTHA Jade says she wants to go upbeat, revealing her “super woman” mum is her inspiration as she battles cancer.

SAMANTHA Jade said it was time to go upbeat with her new single UP!.

“I loved the reaction from What You’ve Done to Me and then Soldier was sad and heart wrenching and really personal so I wanted to do something that was happier,’’ she said.

“I’m super excited about starting to finish the record and it’s been a long time coming.

“I’m pretty sure it will be in the next few months.”

Jade’s new single has become the official Socceroos World Cup song. She has also been spending time in Perth caring for her mum Jacqui who is battling cancer.

“She’s going through a tough time but she’s my inspiration and a super woman,’’ Jade said. “She’s been in hospital for three months, hopefully I can come back home soon.”

Jade, who appeared in Seven’s Never Tear Us Apart, says she now has the acting bug and a few scripts have been sent her way.

But she wants to choose something “very different” to the role she played as Kylie Minogue, so she’s not typecast.
