‘Shut up’: Kyle Sandilands clashes with celeb guest David Walliams for 25 minutes

Little Britain star David Walliams has vowed never to return to Kyle and Jackie O’s radio show after an insult-laden interview.

British comedian David Walliams told Kyle and Jackie O that he’d “never come back” to their show, following a testy interview with the KIIS FM hosts.

David, who is in the country ahead of his An Audience with David Walliams national tour, dropped in to Kyle and Jackie’s O studio during Monday’s show.

He spoke to the pair for 25 minutes, and it was arguably the most entertaining interview Kyle and Jackie O have aired all year.

David admitted he was warned before the interview that Kyle was “controversial”, and he seemed genuinely shocked at some of the things the KIIS FM host said during the chat.

But rather than just sit back and take it, David fired back at Kyle with an endless stream of subtle digs that left co-host Jackie O in fits of giggles.

These are some of the best exchanges from the hilariously fiery interview.

Awkward start: Kyle welcomed David into the studio by saying, “you’re more handsome than I’ve ever noticed”.

David‘s reply?“You not so much, but thank you very much.”

TV careers: Kyle spoke to David about his showbiz credentials, telling the comedian, “I am also a TV star”.

“Yes, but you’re more of a face for radio, aren’t you?” David said.

Kyle’s pantomime experience: Kyle told David about a stage show he was involved with in the past, saying, “we did a one night only production of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert where I was the Asian and I had a mechanical vagina shooting balls into the audience.”

“OK, I’m starting to feel quite ill, actually, at the thought of that,” David told him.

Famous Bond actor: When discussing celebrities they’d met in the past, David raved about former James Bond star, Roger Moore.

“He was a really funny guy and he didn’t take himself too seriously. He was very self-deprecating, something you could learn from,” he said to Kyle.

“I’m trying to figure out what that means,” the radio host replied, as Jackie giggled in the background.

Kyle’s lack of showbiz knowledge: David was shocked when Kyle admitted that he “didn’t understand” Monty Python’s Life of Brian, and that he wasn’t aware an Australian actor had played James Bond (George Lazenby) before.

“How has he had this career?” he asked Jackie about Kyle.

“I was homeless. I was eating out of the bin,” Kyle said, offering up an excuse.

“Well you will be again soon,” David replied.

“I live for the day that I get fired,” Kyle said. “The payout alone. I look forward to that.”

“Really? Well, it won’t be long,” David joked.

The British star then turned to Jackie and said, “I much prefer you”.

AGT disagreement: Kyle told David that he was once set to appear on a season of Australia’s Got Talent, a show David served as a judge on in 2022.

“They wanted me to come on for the finale to boost the ratings, and I took the money, but I didn’t end up showing up,” Kyle claimed.

“That’s not what I heard,” David said.

“What did you hear?” Kyle asked.

“Well I didn’t hear anything about you. I think you’re just lying, as you do, exaggerating and lying.”

David continued, “I just feel with you, there should be a bulls**t-ometer … because I’ve heard an awful lot this morning.”

Two different shows: David explained to Kyle and Jackie O that he’s performing two different shows during his Australia tour, one for adults and one for kids.

Speaking to Kyle, he said, “There’s a kids show during the day but it’s too grown up for you and your feeble mind.”

Why Kyle won’t attend David’s show: Kyle joked that he won’t have time to attend one of David’s shows in Sydney because he’s “got bath time” with his young son, Otto.

The radio host then asked David, “who’s bathing your son when you’re away?”

“He’s 11 years old!” David replied. “What happens is as they get older, you’ll find that they bathe themselves. I know you’re probably still bathed by someone, winched in and out of a bath.”

Be quiet: On several occasions, David became frustrated when Kyle interrupted Jackie on-air.

“See if you can shut up for 10 seconds,” he challenged Kyle at one stage.

“He can’t be quiet, can he?” he asked Jackie.

“I don’t have to be,” Kyle replied. “My name’s on the show. Is your name on the billboard? No!”

Gay staff member: At one stage during the chat, Kyle introduced David to one of the radio show’s producers.

“All his family are in prison for stabbing people … and Josh is a gay sex addict,” Kyle explained.

David simply sighed in response, before wondering out loud, “Why did I say I’d come on this show?”

David won’t return: As mentioned earlier, David said that he was warned before the interview that Kyle was “a bit controversial”.

“You know who else said that? Another bloody bussy boy from your area,” Kyle said.

“[It was] Ricky Gervais,” Jackie revealed.

“Another complainer,” Kyle remarked.

“I’m not complaining,” David said. “I’ll just never come back, that’s all.”

David Walliams is mates with Elton John.

Wrap up: As the interview came to an end, Kyle told David, “big fan of yours”.

“Really?” David replied. “I wish I could say the same.”

David then told Jackie that he thought Kyle was “a bit of a wind-up merchant”.

“He does it to get attention,” David said.

“No I don’t,” Kyle replied.

“When you finish the show, do you go into a darkened room and cry?” David asked him.

“No,” the host said.

“Really? Well you should try it,” the Brit said.

“I’m not a comedian, that’s what comedians do,” Kyle told him.

“I knew he wasn’t a comedian from the moment I met him,” David laughed.
