BEN Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s divorce could be thrown out because they’ve taken so long to finalise it. They’re not the first high-profile couple to announce a split — then drag their heels.

BREAKING up is hard to do. So hard, it could take years.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are just the latest in a long line of celeb couples who’ve split — but then taken an age to finalise their divorces.

Affleck and Garner are at risk of their divorce being dismissed. LA County Superior Court is tired of waiting for the couple to make a move, after the couple separated way back in 2015. The court stated, “If you fail to take the appropriate steps in your case, the court may dismiss your case for delay in prosecution.”

Maria Shriver filed for divorce from Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2011 after she discovered his extramarital affairs and a secret love child. But the two are still married to this day. Their kids are all adults, they both independently have money of their own, but the two can’t seem to finalise their divorce.

From start to finish it took Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon just under two years to finalise their divorce.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s conscious uncoupling took over two years from when they filed for divorce in March of 2014 until July of 2016.

Judging by their kiss in 2016, long post-divorce, it’s clear Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony still have a ton of love for each other. Maybe that’s why it took them more than three years to finalise their divorce.

Khloe and Lamar, on-again off-again.

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s tumultuous break started in 2013 when Khloe filed for divorce. When Lamar went through his overdose ordeal at a Nevada brothel in 2015, Khloe pulled the petition for divorce and focused on caring for Lamar. In 2016 Khloe filed again and the divorce was finalised that December.

Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy’s marriage only lasted three years, but their divorce proceedings lasted a staggering four. They finalised in 2016 but the exes were still fighting over custody of their daughter, Bryn, as recently as March of 2018.

Amy Poehler and Will Arnett also took a lengthy four years to finalise their divorce. The two were together for 11 years before separating and share two children.

Richard Gere is a soon-to-be new father with his 35-year-old wife Alejandra Silva, but it was a long road to get there. His divorce with his then wife, Carey Lowell, took four years to complete.
