SAM Smith has bigger plans than just representing the gay community.
“I want to be a spokesman for everyone,” the 22-year-old Stay with Me singer told Ellen DeGeneres.
“Ya know, straight people, gay people, bisexual. I don’t want to be limited.”
Smith, who will sing the next James Bond theme song, decided to come out shortly before the release of his debut album.
“I’m a singer and a songwriter,” he added.
“I get upset sometimes because I don’t talk about it too much. People say, ‘He doesn’t want to be a spokesman for the gay community.’ I do, of course I do.”
Although his sexuality is news to some, his mother knew the specifics when he was very young.
“I came out when I was like 4 years old,” quipped the blue-eyed soul singer.
“My mom said she knew when I was like 3. So I didn’t have to actually properly come out.”
