Salma Hayek’s awkward dress mishap with Fran Drescher at the SAG Awards

It turns out an uncomfortable silence on stage wasn’t the only awkward moment Salma Hayek faced at the SAG Awards.

Salma Hayek has gracefully handled two awkward moments at the Screen Actors Guild Awards – one on stage and one in the bathroom.

The Mexican-American actress and producer was left standing in silence on stage when veteran actor Michael Keaton was late to accept his award on Monday.

“Are you kidding me? I have stage fright … come on, Michael,” Hayek called after a moment.

It turns out that wasn’t the only uncomfortable, yet funny, moment Hayek had to overcome to hand over the award.

In the bathroom before she was due to go on stage, Hayek’s glove got stuck to the crystal embellishments on Fran Drescher’s dress.

“I can’t even believe it, are you video taping this?” Drescher, who played Fran Fine in The Nanny, said in a video of the mishap, which was posted to Hayek’s Instagram on Wednesday.

“Oh my god, we’re stuck. You’re coming out on stage with me,” Hayek added.

Thankfully, an assistant was able to unhook the two actresses from one another.

Hayek captioned the video: “My glove got stuck on the great (Fran Drescher’s) dress, so I got stuck in the bathroom right before I had to present the award to (Michael Keaton) who was also stuck in the bathroom.”

It was a reference to Keaton who, once he made it on stage, blamed his tardiness on a “packed” bathroom.

“Sorry, quick trip to the men’s room,” the 70 year-old actor said at the beginning of his acceptance speech for outstanding performance by a male actor in a television movie or limited series.

It was a lighthearted start of what soon became an emotional speech, where he dedicated the gong to his nephew and sister, revealing through tears that he had lost his nephew to drug addiction.

Hayek also wasn’t the only actress to take to Instagram after the awards to give some insight into their wardrobe mishaps.

Selena Gomez had sauntered on stage barefoot to present an award after an earlier fall on the red carpet.

Fans on social media were quick to praise the 29-year-old singer and actress, but expressed confusion on why she wasn’t wearing shoes.

“Last night was such a magical one. I couldn’t keep my heels on but I did manage to take a couple selfies,” she wrote on Instagram, sharing some pictures of her look the next day.

A picture also emerged on social media of Gomez standing with Nicole Kidman, who had also removed her shoes, at the awards.

Fans praised Kidman for her “barefoot solidarity”.
