‘You should be ashamed’: Furious Katy Perry’s spray at Australian media

‘YOU should be ashamed’: Touring pop star Katy Perry has lashed out at the Australian media after an unpleasant encounter with photographers in Sydney today.

Thanks Katy Perry

TOURING American pop star Katy Perry has lashed out at the Australian media after an unpleasant encounter with photographers in Sydney today, saying the country’s press should be “ashamed.”

In a series of tweets shared with her 60 million followers this afternoon, Perry detailed the encounter and shared pictures of the photographers she alleges were responsible, labelling them “stalkers.”

“Australian PRESS: you should be ashamed of your paparazzi & tabloid culture. Your paparazzi have no respect, no integrity, no character. NO HUMANITY,” Perry writes.

“I was stalked by many grown men today as I tried to take a quiet walk to the beach. These men would not stop as I pleaded over & over to let me have my space. Many other people stopped to try to help but the paps continued to laugh at me & hold their barrels up and shoot.”

Perry alleges that the photographers told her to make a ‘deal’ with them, saying they would leave her alone in return for shots of her in her bathing suit.

“This is PERVERTED & disgusting behaviour that should NEVER be tolerated, especially by people who do NOT want this.”

Perry then posted pictures of the as-yet-unidentified photographers, labelling them “stalkers”:

The 30-year-old pop star is in Australia as part of her Prismatic World Tour, playing 23 dates in arenas across the country until the middle of December. She’s also due to appear as a special guest at the ARIA Awards in Sydney on Tuesday - although based on today’s comments, perhaps she’ll skip the press on the red carpet.
