Viral video from Iron Maiden’s Australian show: ‘And the crowd goes mild’

British heavy metal band Iron Maiden are currently on tour in Australia, and a video from one of their shows has gone viral for all the wrong reasons.

A video from Iron Maiden’s packed out Australian show has gone viral for all the wrong reasons.

The British heavy metal band, who are currently in the country on their The Future Past Tour, got a less than enthused reaction from the Perth crowd at last week’s concert during a performance of their 2021 song Hell on Earth.

A clip of the show, posted to TikTok, showed a massive audience in the usually-raucous mosh pit at RAC Arena, where attendees were barely moving during the high-energy song, prompting one commenter to note, “And the crowd goes mild.”

“The energy from that crowd would be enough to power a 7w light,” another added.

“Is that audience alive,” a third wrote.

“Zero crowd reaction,” another noted.

However, one crowd goer took to the comment section to say revellers “were definitely going off for the most of it.”

Part of the lack of enthusiasm could stem to complaints the band, which formed in 1975, didn’t play many of their biggest songs from the ‘80s.

Another TikTok video posted by a young woman who attended last week’s Adelaide show with her father shared how her dad was distraught the six-piece didn’t play the biggest hits Run to the Hills and The Number of the Beast, which were released in 1982.

“What the f**k?” the father was heard saying in the clip. “That’s all I f**king wanted. Run to the Hills or The Beast.”

“I feel his pain,” one commenter wrote.

“He’s not wrong,” another said.

“That’s why I’m not going, not big enough songs,” a third wrote.

Iron Maiden, which consists of founder and primary songwriter Steve Harris, lead vocalist Bruce Dickinson, drummer Nicko McBrain, and guitarists Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Janick Gers, have three more shows left to play in Australia.

They’re next set to hit the stage at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Tuesday night, before wrapping with two shows at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on Thursday and Friday.

It’s their first tour down under in eight years, with the band last playing here in 2016 with their The Book of Souls Tour.

Iron Maiden have released a whopping 41 albums since first breaking into the business.
