Taylor Swift is far from an Anti-hero – she’s a trouper.
The show must go on for the superstar singer, despite new footage of her struggling with a cough on-stage during the Singapore leg of her Eras Tour.
In a video shared on TikTok, the 34-year-old was seen repeatedly coughing and clearing her throat as she sang her hit song Delicate for her screaming fans at the city’s National Stadium, which holds 55,000 people at capacity.
“hope she’s okay. she’s been coughing,” the TikTok user captioned the clip.
“I was there and so worried about taylor,” a fan commented on the video, while another wrote, “Oh she needs some rest.”
“I bet it has more to do with the drastic weather changes in different regions,” one remarked, with another writing, “I can only imagine how exhausting it must while on tour giving it with every performance.”
Luckily, Swift has two days to recover before she once again takes to the stage for three more sold-out, back-to-back shows in Singapore on March 7, 8 and 9.
It appears there is one strict policy in place to ensure Swift doesn’t fall ill during her global tour, which will see her play a total 152 shows across five continents.
During the recent Australian leg of her massive tour, it was reported fan meet-and-greets were off the table to limit her exposure to potential illnesses.
“When Taylor is on tour, strict measures are put into place to stop her interacting with anyone outside of her ‘bubble’. They can not risk her getting sick under any circumstances,” a source told Yahoo Lifestyle.
“Even those in her bubble, including her dancers and managers, are restricted what they can do and where they can go during their downtime.”
Indeed, during Swift’s concert at the Melbourne Cricket Ground last month, her publicist Tree Paine – who is in contact with the singer daily – was seen at the venue wearing a face mask.
“Going on a world tour may sound exciting, but the reality of it is each day just consists of going from a hotel room to the venue and repeat,” the source added.
The singer was known for her fan meet-and-greets during her previous tours, but after Covid, her team “permanently axe these as they pose too much risk”.
It's believed if Swift cancels even just one show while on tour, it would cost millions of dollars and disrupt her schedule for the rest of the tour.
