Pop star Olivia Rodrigo abruptly axes Aussie promo tour, just days out

Olivia Rodrigo’s Aussie fans have been left devastated following news the pop sensation’s scheduled trip Down Under this week has been cancelled.

Fans of US pop star Olivia Rodrigo have been left disappointed following news her planned promotional tour to Australia later this week has been abruptly cancelled.

The good 4 u singer, 20, was due to make a number of media appearances, including on the Today show, and take part in a fan Q&A event, as part of a media blitz to promote the release of her highly-anticipated second album, GUTS.

However, The Daily Telegraph reports the trip has had to be cancelled at the last minute due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

“Olivia is devastated that she won’t be able to make it, however she’s so excited to see her Australian Livies in 2024,” a Universal Music Australia representative told the publication.

The promotional tour was initially announced on September 1, with Rodrigo telling fans at the time: “I can’t wait to get down to Australia. I’ve never been and I’m so excited to meet everyone. I’ll see you soon Livies!”

The Grammy-winning performer recently announced her GUTS world tour, which has so far been confirmed to take her across America and to Europe and the UK in 2024.

The statement from Universal regarding her cancellation and seeing her “Livies” next year indicates that it may be only a matter of time before Australian dates are added to that list.

The Disney star has become a global sensation thanks to a string of hits in recent years – and just last month, became the youngest person ever to receive a Brit Billion Award for attracting one billion UK streams.

Rodrigo already has three Grammy Awards and three of her songs have hit number one in Australia, including her most recent, Vampire.

In 2021, the singer and actress made it onto Time magazine’s 100 Next list.
