Kylie Minogue is a good sport about being forced to cancel her Denver concert

Those pesky scheduling conflicts cited for concert cancellations really are true this time with Kylie Minogue forced to give up her Denver arena for another spectacle.

Kylie Minogue to receive "mind-blowing" honour

A Kylie Minogue concert on her triumphant Tension tour of America has been bounced for a basketball game.

And not just any match, but the NBA playoffs.

The Aussie pop queen nobly but regrettably canned her gig at Ball Arena scheduled for April 29 when the Denver Nuggets made the first round playoff series.

The local team will host the Los Angeles Clippers at the venue, a win for Denver’s basketball fans but a “Pa-damn!” cancellation for Minogue fans who were anticipating her first ever concert in the Colorado city.

“I’m so sorry that we’re now unable to visit Denver on the Tension Tour due to a scheduling conflict with the NBA playoffs … I was really looking forward to performing in Colorado for the first time,” she posted to fans.

While disappointed about now missing Denver on the Tension tour, Minogue was a good sport about the last minute venue tug-of-war.

“(I’m) sending my best to the Denver Nuggets for their hometown games,” she wrote.

The Tension world tour kicked off in Australia to rave reviews last month and is first big run of dates in America since 2011.

Minogue has enjoyed a career renaissance in the US since “Padam Padam” exploded worldwide in 2023, the dance-pop single becoming one of her biggest hits there since “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” and winning a Grammy.

She stoked the fan fires there with the More Than Just a Residency gigs at Voltaire at The Venetian Resort from November 3, 2023, to May 4, 2024.

The song’s success reaffirmed Minogue’s cultural relevance in America, with the singer also boosting her acting career there, albeit playing herself, in the recent Netflix comedy crime caper, The Residence.

Earlier this month, the Empire State Building’s world-famous tower was illuminated in green and gold in tribute to her Madison Square Garden Show.

Minogue’s trophy room will receive another addition on Wednesday at the 2025 APRA Awards in Melbourne.

The local gongs, which recognise the achievements of Australian songwriters, have announced Minogue as the recipient of this year’s prestigious Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Services to Australian Music.

“Having known Kylie as a collaborative partner and then watched her development from a distance for many years, it’s impossible not be in awe of her dedication and focus to her craft,” her old mate Jason Donovan told Rolling Stone.

“Whether it’s as a songwriter, music artist, pop star, actor or visual conceptualist, she does everything with passion and dedication, embracing the creative process with a razor-sharp attention to detail.

“Having begun her career as an actor, Kylie truly understands the collaborative process, treating everyone as equals. Kylie is not just an international creative rocket but a hardworking and authentic Melbourne girl who is proud of her Australian heritage.”
