Katy Perry almost falls out of suspended sphere during concert malfunction at Adelaide show

Fans feared for Katy Perry as she suffered a scary stage malfunction that left her dangling from the roof of the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

Katy Perry suffered a scary incident at her Adelaide concert that left her dangling from a suspended metal sphere.

The American pop star performed at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Monday night during her Lifetimes tour, with footage from the incident only going viral today on social media.

In the clip, Perry could be seen inside a massive sphere contraption that was suspended from the roof of the arena. The sphere then unexpectedly tilted, leaving Perry in danger of slipping out of the cage and onto the crowd gathered below.

“Thank god she always holds onto the wrist straps because otherwise she would’ve hurt herself badly,” another chimed in, as one shared, “She ended up jumping down with security’s help.”

“Potentially could have been bad but once it lowered, she was pretty safe,” yet another fan tweeted.

Although Perry was able to get down and back on the stage, one concertgoer noted that the singer appeared “kinda shaken” when performing her next song, Nirvana.

Perry’s Monday show wraps the Aussie leg of her Lifetimes tour, where she played to sold-out arenas in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide — all while navigating increasing reports that she has split from her fiance, Orlando Bloom, after nearly 10 years together.

On Monday, when Perry was performing in Adelaide, the 48-year-old actor took to social media to share a cryptic message about a “new beginning”.

“The important thing is to take that first step,” read a post he shared on his Instagram Story. “Bravely overcoming one small fear gives you the courage to take on the next.”

The Pirates of the Caribbean star also shared a quote from Buddha, which read, “Each day is a new beginning. What we do today is what matters the most.”

Perry’s stage incident comes days after Beyonce also suffered a similar malfunction during her Cowboy Carter tour.

The singer was performing her country hit 16 Carriages at Houston’s NRG Stadium inside a suspended red convertible car on Sunday when it titled at a sharp angle, leaving the star holding on to one of the cables attached to the car.

“Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop,” Beyonce said into the microphone as the music cut out.

She remained suspended in the air above the crowd as the stage crew tried to get her down.

“Thank y’all for your patience,” she calmly told the crowd when she was finally brought down.
