Major twist with Scott Morrison’s ‘absurd’ election song

The viral song based on a children’s nursery rhyme and blasted across the Liberal Party’s campaign ads has been given a major revamp.

The viral song launched by the Liberal Party to poke holes in Labor’s taxation plans has been remixed.

The Coalition released a club mix of the “There’s a Hole in Your Budget, Dear Labor” tune that’s been blasted across TV screens throughout the federal election campaign.

Taking inspiration from the popular children’s rhyme “There’s a Hole in My Bucket”, the song makes claims about Labor’s intentions if elected.

“There’s a hole in your budget, dear Labor,” a voiceover sings.

“More taxes are coming, more taxes, more taxes, there’s a hole in your budget, dear Labor, a hole.”

After racking up more than 2.6 million views on YouTube, the original ditty has been given a toe-tapping upgrade.

It debuted on the Kyle and Jackie O Show on Wednesday, with Scott Morrison sending a message to the radio hosts.

“I just got a text message from the Prime Minister,” Kyle Sandilands told listeners.

“(He said) ‘You’d be interested in the new track that I’m giving you to play first. My office tells me it’s a banger. By the way, I have no idea what that means’.”

But despite its widespread release, not all voters are a fan of the repetitive track.

“I think the Liberal party needs to ask for a refund from whoever came up with that absurd ad of hole in your bucket,” one critic tweeted.

“Will the “hole in your budget” ad from the LNP make even more people decide they need to be voted out?” another added.

The tune starts with “It won’t be easy under Albanese” before a heavy electric beat plays alongside the lyrics.

The song is available on Soundcloud on Wednesday and Spotify on Thursday.
