Katy Perry seen rehearsing at MCG ahead of AFL grand final performance

The US pop star has been spotted undergoing an elaborate rehearsal at the MCG ahead of her blockbuster show at the AFL grand final.

LEAKED: Mystery AFL Grand Final singer revealed

Katy Perry has been spotted rehearsing at the Melbourne Cricket Ground ahead of the AFL grand final on Saturday.

The US pop star, 39, who is reportedly making a cool $5 million to sing five songs, embarked on a full dress rehearsal on Thursday, where she was seen wearing a halter-neck blue crop top and white mini shorts.

The Firework singer had her hair in tight pig tails and sported dramatic blue eye makeup.

Australian singer Tina Arena was also spotted at the rehearsal, confirming rumours she’s set to join Perry for the set.

Elsewhere, Perry could be seen surrounded by all male dancers dressed in bright orange outfits.

The 13-time Grammy nominee is a huge coup for the Aussie sporting event, the superstar known for her high-energy, colourful shows and euphoric songs befitting of a grand final.

But there’s been some controversy in the lead-up, with Perry reportedly at odds with AFL organisers over which songs she was going to perform.

It’s been claimed Perry wanted to sing at least two tracks from her new album 143, which has been a critical and commercial flop since its release earlier this month, while the league was hopeful she’d solely sing her greatest hits.

Both parties ultimately reached a compromise, with Perry reportedly set to sing just one new track during the show.

That wasn’t the only drama surrounding Perry’s songs, with one of her most popular anthems, 2013 chart topper Roar, being deemed an unfair choice because of its association with the Brisbane Lions.

Perry dropped that information during an interview with The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick on Thursday morning.

After establishing co-host Brendan Fevola once played for the Brisbane Lions, Perry said, “Oh, the Lions! I have to cut my song Roar out of the set because it’s not fair.”

“You need to play it,” Fevola insisted.

Perry then assured listeners, “Okay, I’ll play it. I’ll play it.”

Elsewhere, Australian singer, actor and athlete Cody Simpson, multi-ARIA Award winning artist Christine Anu, singer-songwriter Zipporah Corser-Anu, and September favourite Mike Brady AM are also joining the performance line up.
